Hanvon CEO smashes frozen Apple, launches iPad killer...er, smasher

At a press conference held in Beijing yesterday afternoon Hanwang technology formally announced its first official Tablet PC product, the Hanvon TouchPad B10. In true press conference tradition, a good old fashioned publicity stunt was also in the offing as Hanwang's top brass proceeded to smash to pieces a specially made ice Apple......I'll leave the rest to your overworked imaginations.....

The TouchPad B10 is a Intel powered Tablet that runs Windows 7. While there have been quite a few of these x86 tablets appearing on the market in recent weeks, this is one that we've spotted before, also appearing under the label Hanvon - a subsidiary of Hangwang that has the made the transition to tablet manufacturer from the unusual position as design pad peripherals manufacturing. Check out the video below for a peek at the device in action in Hong Kong earlier this year.

Hanvon TouchPad B10 specs:
  • Processor: Intel ULV743 at 1.3Ghz with 2GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel GMA 4500
  • Display: 10 inch 1024 x 600 capacitive multi-touch
  • OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Hard Drive: 250GB – 320GB 2.5" 7200rpm
  • Wireless: Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
  • Cam: Standard 3MP Webcam
  • Audio: Mic and speaker port & dual mics and speakers
  • Storage and expansion: SD card slot, 2 x USB
  • Video Output Support: Mini HDMI plus VGA dongle
  • Dimensions: 253mm x 168mm x 18.4mm
  • Weight: 980g

Debates regarding the relevance of x86 processors and Windows on tablet devices continues to rage on with Intel talking up its impending penetration of the new pad market. In terms of weight, battery life and touchscreen functinality, you'd have to say that the Wintel duopoloy has a way to go before it can challenge products like Apple's iPad. Seems that Hanwang are clearly convinced that x86 is the way to gob however....

Here's the TouchPad B10 sitting next to its soon be smashed brethen.....
